Summer 2008

I thought I would share some insight of what we've been up to this summer!

HIKING!
This was in the Sawtooth Mountains 3 hours NE of Boise over the 4th of July. It was a 12-mile day hike to 2 different mountain lakes- Alpine Lake & Sawtooth Lake (approx. 10,000+ft). Alpine Lake was the prettiest lake I have seen this year. A mile above Alpine Lake was Sawtooth Lake; it was gorgeous but still had a sheet of ice covering the lake and snow all around so I couldn't do much scouting!

ALPINE LAKE SAWTOOTH LAKE

Seafoam Lake was actually a drive Garrod and I took in the Sawtooths, but I still think it's worth mentioning! I don't remember exactly, but I think it was approx. 4 hrs to drive just a few miles up a backcountry road to get to this place. It was one of the scariest drives I have been on with all the boulders, shail, and creeks we had to cross! Good thing we took the Jeep!

CAMPING
!

This summer we have camped in the Sawtooth Mnts, Trinity Mnts, and at the North Fork of the Boise River (about an hr above Lucky Peak Reservoir). The 2-man tent is nothing special but it works out perfect for now. S'mores and hot dogs are always on the menu. At dusk, we like to drive around and look for wildlife- no wolves yet! :) We either fly fish, throw a frisbee, or read to pass the time.

HARLEY RIDE TO ST.MARIES!
YEP! At end of June, Garrod and I took his new Harley on a 7hr adventure to St.Maries! It was definately an experience to feel the air against my face, hear all the sounds, and see all the sights that you don't notice in a car. I will definately do it again!

ST.MARIES!
The only trip home this summer was in June for just a few days. The first night, we had a big family campfire. Of course we had hot dogs, watermellon, and s'mores! The next 2 days, we were busy playing in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament and didn't get a lot of relaxation at the parents house. As always, it always feels good to be home.
